many of you may have noticed I’ve mentioned my love for Deftones
or some of my art having been created listening to their music
if not outright inspired by it
I got into Deftones in June 2007. I went to one of their shows specifically for the opening band, not really actually knowing who the main act was, but the person I went with was a fan.
I remember being totally blown away by the bassist, having a strong stage presence without having to fight for it or detract from the other members, hair better and longer than mine will ever be, playing loud and strong, which is not always the case for a bass guitarist. I will be honest, I think that was the first time I even noticed a bass guitarist at all. I pretty much checked them out and bought their albums based on Chi’s awesomeness alone.
when Chi’s accident happened, I was just getting really into the band and was completely devastated.
today, when I found out about his death, I was even more so.
years later,
bass guitar is my favorite instrument, and my favorite parts of songs
Deftones have been my favorite band for many years
I have even met the band and had my photo taken with them in 2011 (Sergio is fantastic by the by, and I will never knock him)
I have met friends through, been inspired by, and fallen in love to Deftones songs
I guess what I want to say is
thank you, Chi
bit addicted to drawing on my tablet. also, rock n roll by the sounds is pretty good.
every now and then I forget that I drew this and when I am reminded I am overly pleased with myself

#a bit old but I haven't gotten around to posting it
there’s a collage of art and photography on the one wall of my bedroom, and most of it is mine. some is by friends. also with a special appearance of the coffee-filter-and-pipe-cleaner butterfly my 9 year old brother made me last year.
I will eventually, one day, have an actual art or photography update for you all. but that day is not today.
My apologies for it being dead around here. I’ve been having fun though in the meantime.
